India’s Women’s World Cup-winning team is shining brighter than ever on and off the field. After lifting the ICC trophy, the champions have received a flood of awards, gifts, and recognition from across the country.
The players were rewarded with cash awards, cars, land, government jobs, endorsements, and a million new followers. In a fun twist, two days after Harleen Deol humorously asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his skincare routine, a cosmetic company signed her as its brand ambassador.
Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma saw their Instagram followers and brand value skyrocket. Jemimah's followers doubled from 1.5 million to 3.3 million, while Shafali’s endorsement rate jumped to over ?1 crore. Surf Excel also joined the celebration, asking Jemimah to frame her mud-soaked World Cup jersey instead of washing it, linking to their famous “Daag acche hai” tagline.
The BCCI announced ?51 crore in rewards, in addition to ?39.7 crore from the ICC. States also stepped up Maharashtra gave ?2.25 crore each to Smriti Mandhana, Radha Yadav, and Jemimah; Andhra Pradesh granted cricketer N. Shree Charani ?2.5 crore, a job, and a house; Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, UP, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal also announced special prizes.
