Sudha Murty to Leave Infosys Foundation

Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty is set to retire on 31st December 2021 and will continue her philanthropic activities through Murty Foundation.

Sudha Murty is the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation; Her term as chairperson at Infosys Foundation ended on 10th October 2020. She has been given extension for 1 more year till 31st December 2021. Sudha Murty plans to move on to her family owned Murty Foundation which is also involved in many philanthropic Sudha Murty in an interview on Thursday 15th October said, “Nothing will change for me. My philanthropy will continue. Except the name will be Murty Foundation, instead of Infosys Foundation.” There are reports that political parties are thinking to select her for Rajya Sabha membership. But Sudha Murty has said that she wants to be neutral. She said that she will think over it as till now she had never thought of such a possibility and she had no time at all. Sudha Murty is an accomplished writer and she also hopes to devote more time for writing and to her family after 2022.

 Infosys Foundation is funded entirely by two per cent of IT giant Infosys' profits. Murty recalled that the Infosys Foundation started with Rs 32 lakh and it has now grown to handling as much as Rs 400 crore and she has been involved with the Foundation for 25 years. She added that the Infosys Foundation had shown how corporate can make a difference to the country using just two per cent of the profit.
