Shamsher Singh: Deaf Man Builds Vehicles and Machines

Deaf innovator Shamsher Singh from Uttarakhand has amazed people by building working models of vehicles and machines using simple materials.

Thirty-year-old Shamsher Singh from Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, is gaining attention for his amazing handmade models of vehicles and machines. Born Deaf, Shamsher communicates mainly through writing, but his working models speak for his talent.

Shamsher makes buses, cars, trucks, JCB machines, tanks, boats, ropeways and even aircraft models. Using a remote control, he can make many of them move, with working lights, horns and indicators. He also builds small roads around his house to demonstrate how vehicles travel on narrow and steep mountain roads.

Shamsher developed an interest in machines when he was a child. He would take toys apart to understand how they worked. He studied until Class 8 and later taught himself by observing machines and watching videos on his mobile phone. He uses simple materials such as cardboard, wood and old motors.

One of his biggest dreams was to build a flying aircraft model. After spending a long time making it, the aircraft flew but later exploded. Although he was heartbroken, Shamsher did not give up and continued making new models.

Around 2024, a local YouTuber, Kammu Pahadi, helped him create social media accounts. His videos helped more people discover his talent. Today, Shamsher wants to build bigger models and teach other Deaf and differently-abled young people to discover their own talents and become confident.
