Man Rapes Mother and Forces Her to Commit Suicide
A court in Haryana's Gurugram sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment "till his death" for raping his mother and abetting her suicide.

In 2020, a man from Haryana raped his own mother and left her with no option but to commit suicide. On 17th April 2023, The Court of Additional District and Session Judge Rahul Bishnoi sentenced the man to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him. The judge, in his order, said the convict, being the son of the victim, was supposed to act like an “umbrella of protection for her”, but he became her tormentor and “acted like an animal. According to information, on November 16, 2020, a woman died by suicide by hanging herself in her house in the Patauli Village oh Haryana.
The woman’s husband was very worried about what had happened to his wife. He was convinced that there was definitely something that forced the woman to take this step. He went to the police station and filed an FIR. It said in his complaint that the woman was married to his brother 25 years ago, but he died just three years later. That is when the woman married her brother in law. The woman’s elder son was a drug addict and frequently fought with the family members. The police began investigating the case under Sections 306 and 376 (2) (F) of the IPC. A postmortem was conducted in which the results confirmed that she was raped.mThe police arrested the woman’s son on November 21, 2020, and he was sent to judicial custody. Later, the police submitted a chargesheet against the accused. During the hearing, 18 witnesses testified against him and the court found him guilty on all charges. Taking into consideration the nature of the offenses, the manner in which these were committed and the financial condition of the convict, he is sentenced to rigorous life term,” read the court order.
