Trump Tells Google And Microsoft To Stop Hiring Indians
President Donald Trump has again criticised the hiring of Indian tech workers in the U.S., raising worries about job opportunities for Indian professionals abroad.
On 24th July 2025, former U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines again with another controversial comment — this time about Indian tech workers.
While speaking at an Artificial Intelligence (AI) summit in Washington, D.C., Trump directly attacked big American tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Apple, saying they are hiring “too many Indians and foreign workers.” According to him, this is taking away jobs from American citizens.
This is not the first time Trump has spoken against foreign professionals. During his time as president (2017–2021), he had already made it difficult for skilled workers to get visas like the H-1B visa, which is mainly used by Indian tech experts to work in the U.S.
In 2025, Trump is again pushing his “America First” agenda. He now wants to stop companies from hiring workers from other countries, especially from India, and instead promote AI and tech work only inside the U.S.
He clearly said, “Under President Trump, those days are over,” referring to the hiring of foreign professionals.
But here’s the problem: Over 70% of all H?1B visa holders are Indians. These are highly skilled professionals who work in areas like software development, data science, and AI. Big U.S. companies say there are not enough trained Americans for these jobs.
Even though Trump wants to reduce foreign hiring, the fact is that half of America’s top AI scientists are from other countries — many of them from India.
US Vice President JD Vance supported Trump, saying, “I don't want companies like Microsoft to fire 9000 Americans and say they can't find local workers.”
But experts are warning that cutting down on Indian talent could slow down innovation, reduce the quality of tech products, and even increase their prices.
So far, no official law has been passed. But companies might slow down hiring from India to avoid future problems — especially if they have U.S. government contracts.
It's also important to remember that Indian leaders like Sundar Pichai (Google) and Satya Nadella (Microsoft) are heading the world’s biggest tech companies. Indian engineers are not just supporting the U.S. — they’re building technology for the whole world.
In fact, a report from the American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM) says that U.S. companies have created jobs for over 50 lakh people in India.
This is now the third time Trump has criticised Indian workers, and it’s creating worry among those who dream of working abroad.
