Elderly Women Targeted by Earring Snatchers
Two elderly women in Punjab were targeted in separate earring-snatching incidents that were caught on CCTV and are now under police investigation.
Two shocking earring-snatching incidents from Punjab have been caught on CCTV cameras. Both videos have gone viral on social media.
The first incident took place in Ludhiana on 18 June 2026. An elderly woman was standing outside her house when a young man came up to her and touched her feet, pretending to seek her blessings. As she blessed him, he suddenly snatched her gold earrings and ran away. The woman tried to chase him, but he managed to escape.
The second incident happened in Patiala on 19 July 2026. A 70-year-old woman had stepped out of her house when two men approached her. One of them suddenly snatched her earrings and ran away. The woman immediately chased the suspects, but they escaped.
Police have registered cases in both incidents and started investigations. Officers are examining CCTV footage to identify and arrest the accused.
These incidents have raised concerns about the safety of elderly people and the rising number of snatching cases in Punjab.
