Underlining that it has zero tolerance towards corruption, the Delhi police today suspended a traffic cop. The reason is very shocking! The video of the month-old incident is now in wide circulation. In the video, the cop, Mahesh Chand, tells the Korean man to pay ? 5,000 for an alleged traffic violation. The man offers the cop ? 500, the video shows. The cop explains it is ? 5,000 and not ? 500. The man promptly hands him over the required amount, they shake hands and the cop thanks him, showing the video. The dashboard camera of the car captured the entire incident. The video has been shared several times on social media platforms. After the video went viral, the Delhi Police suspended Mahesh Chand and set up an inquiry into the matter. During interrogation, the traffic policeman claimed that he was about to give the receipt of the challan but the car owner left.

The Delhi Police Tweeted, "Delhi Police has a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, and strict action will be taken." Netizens have hailed the move but many called for stricter action. "Please make him pay double the money to the foreigner...This is the biggest crime," replied one Twitter user. "Why only suspension? He has tarnished the image of India. There should be much strict action," said another.
