Comedian Raju Srivastav Passes Away

Raju Srivastav, veteran comedian died today 21st September 2022 at the age of 58 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Raju Srivastav, veteran comedian who was admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) died today 21st September 2022 at the age of 58. He is survived by wife and 2 children. 

 

On 10th August, Raju Shrivastav had complained of chest pain while running on a treadmill at the gym. He was hospitalized and it was found that he had a heart attack. He also underwent an angioplasty the same day.  However, swelling was observed in his brain during his treatment and his health kept on deteriorating so he was put on life support at AIIMS, Delhi. He regained consciousness after 15 days on ventilator support. However, on 1st September he had high fever and was put on ventilator support again. 

 

Raju Srivastav was born in 1963 in Kanpur. Raju came to Mumbai in the 80s. However, his road to success was not a bed of roses. When he came to Mumbai, he drove an auto for some time till he got work in movies.

During his initial struggling days, Srivastava also had to perform at Rs 50 to make ends meet. To survive in the city, he also did  roles in films. He received recognition after participating in the first season of the stand-up comedy show “ The Great Indian Laughter Challenge” in 2005. He featured in many films and comedy TV shows. He also did a lot of live performances. He was also widely loved for his impersonation of Bollywood actors and political leaders. Raju had revealed that even PM Modi enjoyed his mimicry. Raju said that PM Modi had told, ‘If you wish to, you should mimic me, just take care that the crowd should be entertained.’ As soon as the news about death went viral, celebrities, actors, directors, politicians, fans tweeted condolence messages.  He will be greatly missed by everyone but his comedy will be in everyone’s heart forever.
