Can’t Pay Rent in Gujarat: Husband Allows Landlord to Rape Wife and Minor Daughter

A family’s financial crisis in Morbi allegedly led to a landlord sexually exploiting a woman and her 13-year-old daughter, with police arresting the landlord and the husband.

A labourer’s family from Surendranagar moved to Morbi in search of work and rented a house for ?2,000 a month.

When they were unable to pay rent for four months, their 55-year-old landlord allegedly exploited their desperation by offering to waive the dues in exchange for sexual access to the labourer’s wife.

The abuse later extended to the couple’s 13-year-old daughter, who was allegedly assaulted by the landlord and another man believed to be his relative.

The case came to light after the woman’s parents filed a complaint at Morbi Police Station. Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act, arrested the husband and the landlord, and launched a search for the third accused.

A deeply disturbing case that reveals how financial hardship can be exploited in the most horrific ways and can break even close relationships.
