Amazon.com Inc. CEO Jeff Bezos began expanding their business in India by selling groceries, books, movies, food delivery service, car & bike insurance etc. Similarly even Reliance Industries run by one of the richest men in the world Mukesh Ambani is rapidly growing. Reliance has expanded its business in oil, electricity, communications, groceries, etc. Amazon is now delivering prescription and over-the-counter medicines and herbal remedies in Bengaluru. Reliance has now announced it had acquired a majority stake in a top e-pharmacy Netmeds for Rs 620 crore. Reliance said they are even preparing to offer financial services such as insurance, brokering and mutual funds.


Satish Meena, senior forecast analyst said, “Amazon and Reliance want to meet a person’s every need from online retail to financial services to entertainment. Amazon and Reliance are competing against each other and it will be a tough battle in the future.” Both Amazon and Reliance are also competing against each other in grocery retail. Amazon is selling groceries through Amazon Fresh and Amazon Pantry. While Reliance recently launched JioMart in 200 cities in India to sell groceries online.
