Woman Leashes Husband To Go Out In Curfew
A woman was stopped by the police in Quebec, Canada and fined when she walked outside her house during curfew with her husband who she was walking on a leash.
As on 11th January, Quebec, Canada has reported 230,690 cases of Covid-19 and 8,737 deaths. Quebec, Canada implemented a 20:00 curfew from 9th January to slow the spread of Covid-19 across the region. When Francois Legault, Premier of Quebec, implemented the curfew he may not have expected that people would go to any lengths to go out during curfew. A woman was stopped by the police on Saturday night (9th January) when she walked outside of her house at 21:00 along with her husband, who she was walking on a leash. According to CTV, the woman argued to police that she was simply following curfew rules. Curfew rules allowed dogs to be walked on leashes within one kilometer of their home after 20:00. She said that she was following the same rule.
When the police pointed out her husband is not a dog, she protested. The woman and her husband were each given $1,500 fines by Sherbrooke police for violating curfew. The woman said that she will not pay. Over the first weekend under curfew, police officers across Quebec handed out 750 tickets worth thousands of dollars in fines to people caught out after 8 p.m.
