UP Police Constable Cries Over the Quality of Mess Food

A police constable in Uttar Pradesh drew a huge crowd as he stood on the road and started crying over the quality of food served in the police mess.

The quality of food in government facilities and mess, including that of the meal provided in government schools is almost always heavily criticized. However, a police constable in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh on 10th August drew a huge crowd as he stood on the road and started crying over the quality of food served in the police mess. In a video that is massively going viral on social media, constable Manoj Kumar is seen crying on the road with a plate of rotis, dal and rice while a senior official tries to convince him in a bid to take him back to the police station.Surrounded by people, Constable Manoj Kumar said he complained to his seniors about the food, but no action was taken.

"I am being threatened that I will be fired from my job," he said.

He alleged that police personnel are served with watery dal and undercooked chapatis at the mess."The Chief Minister had earlier announced that the state government provides an allowance to ensure a nutritious diet for police personnel. But this is what we get after long hours of duty," he said."How will cops work if we won't get a proper diet?" the constable asked. In another video, he is seen sitting on the divider with a plate of food telling people, "even animals won't eat this."

Later, Firozabad police in a tweet said that constable Manoj Kumar has a history of disciplinary issues and has been punished 15 times in the past over irregularity and indiscipline. However, an investigation has been ordered over the matter.Meanwhile, the mess manager has said that Kumar would habitually raise an unnecessary hue and cry regarding the quality of food and protest that the food items, including chapatti, and rice, were raw.
