Russian soldiers may have withdrawn from Kyiv, Ukraine, but the trauma that the people had to go through will stay forever. Details of horrific crimes have come out. The latest news of crimes by Russian soldiers in Ukraine will give you goosebumps. Ukraine’s official ombudsman for human rights - Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova said that in Ukraine’s Bucha Russian soldiers kidnapped 25 women and held them hostage in a house. These women were aged between 14 to 24. They were kept in the basement for 25 days and continuously raped. However, the rape came along with dangerous torture and abuse. She also said, “Russian soldiers told them they would rape them to the point where they wouldn’t want sexual contact with any man, to prevent them from having Ukrainian children." This means that the the Russain soldiers did not want to only rape the women. The aim was to rape them so badly that they will have negative thoughts about sex. They will then not want to be with any other Ukrainian man also as this whenever they try to have sex, they will remember the rape by the Russian men. Then they will not have Ukrainian babies. This way they wanted to completely destroy Ukraine.
Now 9 of these women are pregnant. This is not it. There are news about chilling rapes committed by Russian soldiers across Ukraine. A 14-year-old girl was pregnant after being raped by five men. An 11 year old boy was raped in front of his mother as she was tied to a chair. Denisova shared another incident where a 20-year-old woman was raped by “three Russian in all possible ways at once” in Irpin. Irpin is a place which Russian forces partially have occupied. In another heartbreaking incident, in a remote quiet area in Ukraine, Anna, who is 50, shared that on 7th March, she was at home with her husband when a Russian soldier barged in. "At gunpoint, he took me to a house nearby. He ordered me: 'Take your clothes off, or I'll shoot you.' He kept threatening to kill me if I didn't do as he said. Then he started raping me."
"While he was raping me, four more soldiers entered. I thought I was going to be raped by 4 people. Then they took the soldier away. I never saw him again," she said. She believes a 'separate unit of Russian soldiers saved her.' After Anna returned home, she found that her husband had been shot in the abdomen. In a facebook post she wrote that this is not an army of Russian soldiers. They are like terrorists who are crossing all limits of humanity. They are gang raping women, children - boys and girls. She said, “There is no place on earth or in hell where racist criminals can hide from retribution!” She appealed to the UN Human Rights Commission to “take into account these facts of Russian war crimes in Ukraine.”
However, Russia’s deputy UN ambassador Gennady Kuzmin denied the allegations and accused Ukraine and its allies of “a clear intention to present Russian soldiers as sadists and rapists.” Last week Russia was suspended from the United Nations Human Rights Council. The suspension was a step taken after images showing bodies of civilians lying in the streets with bound hands, close-range gunshot wounds, and signs of torture were released.
