Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin shared a dramatic video on Twitter which is extremely chilling. This video went viral. The incident in the video took place in Tamil Nadu’s Salem District. In the district there is a place called Attur where there is a waterfall named Anaivari Muttal falls. The waterfall had been reopened to the public two months ago as part of Covid-19 relaxations. In the video, a woman is seen sitting on a rock holding on to her baby near the gushing waters. Using a rope, 2 forest rescue officials and 2 normal civilians are seen perched on the rocks trying to save the woman and her child. The men used a rope and carefully lifted the child and then the woman. The task wasn’t easy and took some time. People on the other side of the water are heard screaming and telling the people not to climb as they might fall. As the mother and child appear to be out of danger, two individuals who were helping the forest officials in the rescue effort suddenly lose balance and fall into the water.
Though the video ends at this point, the two men reportedly swam to the other side of the river and are safe.
Salem District Forest Officer K Gowtham said that no death or injury was reported following the incident.
M K Stalin who shared the video on Twitter said, "The courageous act of those who saved the mother and daughter is commendable. The government will reward them for their bravery. The public must be vigilant during disasters and help people!”
