The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) is an authority, which audits all receipts and expenditure of the Government of India and the state governments. The CAG presented a report in the parliament on 3rd February 2020. The report was made on an audit from 2015-16 and 2017-18. According to the report, soldiers posted in dangerous places such as Siachen & Ladakh do not have enough equipment & ration. The report said that soldiers do not have equipment such as snow goggles, boots, jackets, sleeping bags.

CAG said that between November 2015 and September 2016, there was a 98% shortage of snow goggles. The report also said that in Siachen & Ladakh soldiers do not get enough food as well.Soldiers posted in Siachen require clothing to battle to extreme cold. There is a big shortage of such clothes for the soldiers.

Because of this the soldiers in Siachen are suffering a lot.The Defence Ministry has delayed buying these items for the last four years.

Whatever equipment they have is completely outdated.Temperatures in Ladakh and the Siachen Glacier can fall upto -50 degrees celsius. It is very dangerous that our army which protects us doesn’t have proper clothes and food in these dangerous places.
