Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested in the pornographic video case on July 19, and is in the custody of the Mumbai crime branch. On Friday 23rd July, after being remanded to further custody, Raj Kundra was taken to his Juhu residence for a house search, where he happened to meet his wife Shilpa Shetty. Officials also wanted to record Shilpa Shetty’s statement to understand if she had any involvement in the case. Officials said, Shilpa Shetty had an argument with husband Raj Kundra and later broke down while her statement was being recorded by the Mumbai crime branch on Friday. Raj Kundra made porn videos which were then made available on the Hotshots app. Mumbai Police sources said that Shilpa Shetty has said she was unaware of the exact nature of content on 'Hotshots'. But she also stressed the difference between 'erotica' and 'pornography', and said Mr Kundra was not involved in producing pornographic content.

Crime branch officials said they will analyse her statement, and, if required, record it again. Officials also claimed that during the search they found a cupboard hidden in a cavity. They have recovered a few files, which are being scrutinised. Police said they had seized 48 TB worth of images and videos, most of which is adult content. They have also had a record of transactions - from an account in Yes Bank registered to Mr Kundra to one in the United Bank of Africa. They suspect money from the sale of pornographic content was used for online betting. Rs 7.5 crore has been seized so far.
