After his state visit to the USA, PM Modi went to a two-day Egypt state from 24th and 25th June. We released an elaborate video about the US visit. You can have a look at it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVtNpFzif58

It is also worth noting that this is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation in 26 years.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi  welcomed PM Modi at the Presidential Palace where the two leaders had a one-on-one meeting.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Egyptian President El-Sisi signed an agreement to improve the bilateral relationship to a "Strategic Partnership". Both the leaders discussed ways to further deepen the partnership between the two nations, including in trade, investment, defense, security, renewable energy, cultural and people-to-people ties.

In addition to this, 3 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the fields of agriculture, archaeology and antiquities were also signed between both the countries.

PM Modi held discussions with his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly and the nation's top cabinet ministers.

PM Modi also visited the historic 11th-century Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo on 27th June .The mosque was restored with the help of India’s Dawoodi Bohra Community. There is a large presence of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community in the area and they are important in Gujarat, too.

He later visited Cairo’s Heliopolis War Cemetery.  Here the names of nearly 4,000 martyred Indian soldiers who took part and fought in World War I in Palestine and Egypt are commemorated.
PM Modi even met noted Egyptian author Tarek Heggy, businessman Hassan Allam and several others.

He also held talks with two young yoga instructors, Nada Adel and Reem Jabak, and lauded their commitment to yoga and urged them to visit India.

PM Modi also tweeted, “Honored to have met the Grand Mufti of Egypt, His Eminence Prof. Shawky Ibrahim Allam”

The Grand Mufti is the government's primary source of religious authority. He is the symbolic religious representative of the government, and is able to issue fatwas on religious matters.

In the last leg of his visit, Modi visited the Great Pyramids of Giza along with his Egyptian counterpart Mostafa Madbouly.

In a proud moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the country's highest state honor—Order of the Nile.

The Order of the Nile (Kiladat El Nil) was established in 1915 by Egyptian King Sultan Hussein Kamel for recognition of the highest public service for the country or humanity.

PM Modi joined the likes of Queen Elizabeth II and Nelson Mandela as being the foreign leaders to have been felicitated with the award.

This is the 13th international award conferred upon the prime minister since he took over in 2014.

It is such a proud moment for India. PM Modi who was denied US visa a few years back, is now being invited for State visits around the world and is being honoured with several awards.

Modi landed in India yesterday.
