Petrol Now More Expensive than Aviation Fuel
The price of petrol has steeply increased over the last few weeks. It has now become more expensive than aviation fuel.
State-run oil refiners such as Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil and Hindustan Petroleum make changes in fuel rates on a daily basis, by taking into account the crude oil prices in the international markets, and the rupee-dollar exchange rates. Any changes in petrol and diesel prices are implemented with effect from 6 am every day.
However, in the last few weeks, prices of petrol have been increasing rapidly because the price of crude oil in the international market has been increasing.
Among the four metro cities which is Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai & Delhi petrol rates are the highest in Mumbai.
Flights also use petrol but it is different from petrol used in cars.
Currently the price for flight petrol is ? 79 per litre. Petrol for cars is much more expensive that flight petrol.
Car Petrol is almost 33% more expensive than flight petrol!
People now joke that it may be cheaper to buy flight tickets than purchase petrol for cars.
