Patanjali Announces Medicine to Cure COVID-19
Founder of Patanjali Ayurved Baba Ramdev announced that Patanjali is launching Ayurvedic medicines Coronil & Swasari that can cure COVID-19 in 7 days.
On Tuesday 23rd June Founder of Patanjali Ayurved Baba Ramdev announced that Patanjali is launching Ayurvedic medicines Coronil & Swasari that can cure COVID-19 in 7 days. The medicines, "Coronil and Swasari" were developed based on research and trials. The medicines come in a Corona Kit priced at Rs 545.” Ramdev claimed Patanjali's medicines showed "100 percent results" in clinical trials. He said that the whole country and the world were waiting for medicine or vaccines for corona. Patanjali Research Centre and National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Jaipur have worked together to make the medicine. Ramdev said, “We conducted two trials of these medicines. The first clinical trial was done in Delhi, Ahmedabad and many other cities. Under this 280 patients were included and 100 percent of these recovered for COVID-19. Ramdev said, "After this, with the help of NIMS, Jaipur we conducted testing on 95 patients. In three days 69 per cent patients recovered and became negative and within seven days 100 percent of them became negative. Tests were done on all, except patients who are highly infected on ventilators. Trials on the infected people who are on ventilation are still pending.” Patanjali is planning to sell these medicines across India within a week. However a few hours after Baba Ramdev announced the medicine, Ayush Ministry said, “Patanjali is saying that the medicines are 100% effective and they have done scientific research as well. But the Ayush Ministry does not know anything about this.” The Ayush Ministry has ordered Patanjali to provide details: What is a medicine made of? Details of their testing and research on infected patients. Where was the research conducted? Did Patanjali get permission to do testing on patients from the government? Does Patanjali have license and approval to make Ayurvedic medicines? If yes then show copies of the license. The Ayush Ministry had ordered Patanjali to stop advertising or saying the medicine can cure COVID-19 in 7 days. Because the government needs to check all the details. Patanjali CEO Acharya Balkrishna said that they have 100 percent followed all the rules of clinical trials while testing medicines. All the details have been given to the Ayush Ministry. Two police complaints have also been filed against Patanjali, in Rajasthan & Haryana for misleading the public and launching a medicine without the approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Many countries are still testing and trying to find a cure or vaccine for COVID-19. Till now there is no scientific proof that a medicine can cure COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also warned people to be careful about people who say they have found a cure for COVID.
