India is in the phase 3 of the lockdown and cab companies such as Ola and Uber have decided to start their services in Orange and Green Zones from 4th May. However, these services will not start in Red zones. The statement posted on Uber’s website stated that in order to maintain social distancing; it is recommended

that only 2 passengers travel at a time. No one should be sitting next to the driver and government guidelines

for cab services will be followed. The government has allowed 1 driver plus 2 passengers only in Orange and green zones.

The statement also informed that as per the government directives, old people above 65 years of age, people who already have some ailments, pregnant women and children below 10 years of age should stay at home.

They should go out only for essential requirements. Ola has posted a list of 100 cities on its website. Services of Ola Cabs, Ola Autos, and Ola Bikes will be resumed from Monday (4th May) in these 100 cities. Ola Share and Ola Outstation Services have not been Resumed.

Ola would be giving masks, sanitizers, and disinfectants to the drivers. The drivers will have to wear masks all

the time. The cabs will be cleaned before and after each ride. If the passenger feels that the driver is not following safety rules, then they can cancel the ride. To check that the drivers are following the safety rules and wearing masks, the drivers will have to take a selfie and share it through the app. Ola statement also stated that the passengers must wear masks, sanitize themselves before and after the ride. During the ride, ACs will be switched off and windows will be opened to stop recirculation of air. The passengers will have to load and unload the luggage on their own.
