A Chinese man was reportedly rushed to hospital after kissing his girlfriend for 10 minutes. The incident happened on August 22 - Chinese Valentine's Day. The man and his girlfriend were locked in a passionate embrace near West Lake in China’s eastern Zhejiang province. Suddenly he heard a bubbling sound, felt pain in his left ear, and was rushed to the hospital. Following medical examinations, the doctors discovered his eardrum was perforated. Further, they said it would take two months to recover. Medical experts explain that intense kissing can generate powerful suction forces that tug on the eardrum. The rapid alterations in air pressure, coupled with vigorous breathing, have the potential to result in a perforation. The incident has captivated Chinese social media platforms. According to the media outlet, this is not the first time such a thing has happened. In 2008, a young woman from southern China partially lost her hearing after her boyfriend ruptured her eardrum during an excessively passionate kiss. The 20-something girl went to hospital completely deaf in her left ear.
