Maharashtra Postpones Rent Collection by 3 Months

Uddhav Thackeray has issued an advisory to landlords to postpone rent collection by at least three months.

Due to the lockdown to contain the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has issued an advisory to all landlords in Maharashtra. Thackeray said that due to the lockdown people are facing many financial problems and are not able to pay rent. He Tweeted and advised landlords to differ rent collection by at least three months.

Now please remember that the CM has not issued a ban on collecting rent in Maharashtra. Your landlord may still ask you to pay rent and you will have to pay. The government’s announcement is a request to landlords to be kind and understand people’s financial problems. But the government has strongly said that during this period, no tenant should be evicted from the rented house due to non-payment of rent.

If you are having trouble paying rent due to financial problems, then please show this letter which was written by the CM and ask your landlord to give you 3 months time to pay rent.  You can download the letter in the description box below for your reference. www.bit.ly/notrent
