Lockdown Extended Till 31st May

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced the 4th lockdown, giving more power to the state governments.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) yesterday on 17th May announced that the 4th lockdown will be extended till 31st May all over India. However, now the State Governments will decide which areas come under Red, Green, Orange Zone, and containment zone. Now a fifth zone has been created, called ‘Buffer Zone’ A Buffer Zone is an area situated around an area that has major cases of COVID-19. Movement in the Buffer Zone will be closely monitored so that the infection does not spread. State Governments will now have more power to control the situation. However, the MHA has issued rules and regulations that have to be strictly followed by the states. 

The MHA has announced that only essential activities shall be allowed in containment zones. The Guideline of the MHA are as follows: 

 Allowed: 

  1. Inter state passenger vehicle travel. But depends on area and government rules. 

  2. Inter state bus and road travel 

Prohibited: 

  1. Flights & Trains 

  2. Educational institutions 

  3. Religious, political & social gathering 

  4. Movie theatres, restaurants, hotels 

Restrictions: 

  1. Night activity between 7 pm-7 am 

  2. Movement in red/ containment zones 

  3. Movement of senior citizens and people having health problems.
