IPL 2025: Virat Kohli and RCB Win First Title After 18 Years

After 18 years of waiting, RCB finally won their first IPL title in a thrilling final against Punjab Kings.

After waiting for 18 long years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won their first-ever IPL title! They beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in an exciting final match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB batted first and scored 190 runs for 9 wickets. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with a steady 43 runs off 35 balls. At the end of the innings, Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone did some powerful hitting to help RCB reach a strong total.

In Punjab’s bowling attack, Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson bowled very well, taking key wickets and putting pressure on Bengaluru.

While chasing 191, Punjab Kings started well but lost some quick wickets which slowed them down. Shashank Singh played a great innings and stayed not out, but Punjab fell just short of the target.

The turning point came when Krunal Pandya bowled a brilliant spell. He gave only 17 runs in 4 overs and took 2 important wickets. His tight bowling made it difficult for Punjab to score runs. Along with him, Bhuvneshwar Kumar also played a key role and took the wicket of captain Shreyas Iyer.

RCB’s bowlers stayed calm and focused during the final overs and helped the team win the match.

As soon as the last ball was bowled, Virat Kohli fell to the ground with emotion. He had tears in his eyes. His teammates ran to him and celebrated this special moment.

RCB has thousands of loyal fans across India, and this win means a lot to them. Fans were seen dancing and cheering everywhere. Former RCB stars like AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle were present and lifted the trophy with the team.

The final also had a grand closing ceremony where singer Shankar Mahadevan performed. A tribute was also given to the Indian Armed Forces after the success of Operation Sindoor.

Though Punjab Kings played very well this season, they are still waiting for their first IPL trophy. With rising stars like Shashank Singh, they may win in the coming years. Also, Shreyas Iyer made history by becoming the first captain to take three different teams to the IPL final.

Former RCB owner Vijay Mallya shared a message on social media congratulating the team.

For Virat Kohli, who has been with RCB since the beginning, this win is very emotional. After so many years of effort and near-wins, RCB finally became champions.

To celebrate, RCB has announced a victory parade in Bengaluru. It will take place on Wednesday, June 4, starting at 3:30 PM. The parade will begin from Vidhana Soudha and end at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the team’s home ground.

Fans are expected to come in large numbers and paint the city red for this historic celebration.
