Indonesian Couples Not Allowed to Use the Toilet After Marriage?

An Indonesian tribe restricts newlyweds from using the toilet for three days after their wedding.

There are some weird rituals across the world, but this according to us is the weirdest of them all. An Indonesian tribe restricts newlyweds from using the toilet for three days after their wedding. Yes, you heard that right! The Tidong community in Indonesia prohibits the couple from using the washroom for three days after their marriage. The Tidong people are inhabitants of the north-eastern region of Borneo, near the border between Indonesia and Malaysia. The people belonging to the tribe believe that breaking this rule will bring extremely bad luck to the couple – a broken marriage, infidelity, or death of their children at a young age. So the newly wedded couple is watched over by several people and allowed only a minimal amount of food and drinks. After the three days, they are bathed and then permitted to use the toilet. They are supervised by relatives, who are also responsible for keeping an eye on them to make sure the couple really passes the challenge without cheating by secretly relieving themselves using the toilet. It is believed that only couples who pass this challenge will be able to have an enduring /long-lasting marriage and those who fail will have bad luck in their marriage and their marriage won’t last. Well, we aren't sure how they do it, but we wish them luck from our end. What do you think about this weird and very difficult ritual in the tribal community?
