PM Modi addressed the nation and extended the lockdown till 3rd May. Watch our latest video for the highlights of Modi’s speech.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 10 a.m. on Today, the last day of the 21-day lockdown. He announced that the lockdown has been extended till May 3 and will be imposed even more strictly.Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, India’s fight with the Coronavirus pandemic is going ahead with full force. He said India started screening people with foreign travels even before there was a single positive case in the country. We are much better off than most of the developed nations due to our right decisions at the right time. None of this would have been possible, without the support of the people of India.

The only reason it was possible because people stayed at home. Because of this India suffered many losses but the lives of India people are more important. Still the number of cases is increasing. This is why the extension of lockdown is important. We have to make sure that the number of positive cases in hotspots do not increase and the virus does not spread elsewhere. This is why the next week is extremely important. Rules will be more strict. Till April 20, every district in India must keep a watch in their areas. Places that are under control will be given some relief. But rules will have to be strictly obeyed so that the COVID cases do not increase again. The government will issue new Guidelines for such places.

Places where the COVID-19 cases are still high will not be given any relief and people will have to follow rules. Modi said that the government is working very hard to help daily wage workers and farmers. There is enough food and medicines in the country.  Earlier there was only one lab for testing. Now we have 220 labs. There are over 600 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals today. According to international data if a country has more than 10,000 COVID cases, then they must have at least 1500-1600 beds. Right now India has more than 1 lakh beds and the government is working to make more. Modi sincerely requested young scientists to come forward and invent a vaccine for COVID-19. He told them that India really needs their help.

Modi requested every Indian citizen to make 7 important promises.
