Heavy Rain Alert In Mumbai & Pune

The Indian Meteorological Department in Mumbai has issued a high alert in Mumbai, Thane and Pune. Heavy rainfalls and dangerous floods have been predicted.

The Indian Meteorological Department in Mumbai has issued a high alert in Mumbai, Thane and Pune. They have said that there is a possibility of extreme rainfall in such places. Authorities have been told to severe any severe situation. A high alert has been issued in Palghar for July 26 and 28 as well. On 27th July it may rain very heavily. This may lead to floods. IMD officials said that walls of old buildings may collapse as well due to the rains. 

Officials say that this is because there is a cyclone in South Gujarat. Heavy rains started in Mumbai on 23rd July. This was highest rainfall received this year. Due to this heavy rainfall, lakes that supply water to Mumbai are overflowing. The Tansa lake in Thane is overflowing as well. Tansa supplies 400 million litres of water daily.
