Government Grants 2-Yr Child Care Leave for Single Male Staff

Government grants 2-yr paid leave for single male government staff.

Male employees of the Central Government can now get child care leave (CCL). They can get  2 years of leave during their service. A ‘single’ male employee has been defined as, ‘an unmarried, widower or divorced government servant’.The government said that if a man is  single parent, he is responsible for raising his child. That is why the government has decided to include male employees in the child care leave.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has also introduced a salary cut for the employees who choose to take the CCl. Earlier the employee would get the same salary even during the leave. Now the rule has changed. The first year of leave the employee will get 100% salary. In the next 365 days the employee will only get 80% salary.

The government said that this leave is for the well-being of the family. It is not a benefit. Only those employees who genuinely need it must make use of it.

No government in the world gives two years of paid CCL leave to their employees. India is the first to do so.
