A rare astronomical event is happening in India right now, and you don't want to miss it! Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) is making its first visible appearance over India, and it's a once-in-a-lifetime sight.
This comet was discovered in January 2024 by observatories in China and South Africa. It last came near Earth 80,000 years ago, and now it’s back, offering a spectacular view.
The comet got closest to the Sun on 28th September 2024, and since then, it’s been moving toward Earth, becoming visible to us. Between 12th and 24th October 2024, you can spot the comet in the Indian sky, but experts say the best time to watch is from 14th to 22nd October 2024.
For people in eastern India, the best view is just before sunrise, while those in western India should look for it 45-50 minutes after sunset. You can see the comet with the naked eye as a fuzzy, shiny ball, but binoculars or a small telescope will reveal its stunning long, bright tail.
Astronomers say it's one of the brightest comets seen in the last 10 years. Astrophotographers from clear-sky regions like Ladakh, Nainital, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana are capturing amazing images of this rare event.
