Zaira Waisim is an 18-year-old actor from Jammu & Kashmir. She has acted only in two Bollywood films, “Dangal” and “Secret Superstar”.  She has won a National award for her acting as well. Zaira has now decided to quit acting in films as her work affects her faith and religion. In a detailed post on her Facebook page on Sunday 1st July, the actor said she had completed five years in the profession and wanted to say the truth that she was not happy with her profession. She said that she was in her early teens when she acted opposite Amir Khan in the movie Dangal. She said that she felt she was trying to be someone she was not. Acting in films bought her a lot of love and support. However it interfered with her religion. This is why she decided to quit acting.

This has created a huge debate among political leaders and among people on Twitter. Politician Omar Abdullah no one had the right to question Zaira's decision. It is her life and she do whatever makes her happy. Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi said that Hindi cinema has seen many success stories of people from the same faith. Does she mean to say that these successful actors didn’t know their religion? Her making this decision on the basis of faith shows that Islamis intolerant. However it is not the case. It is an injustice to Islam.

People respect her decision to quit films but they say that faith has nothing to do with artistic expression. Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha President Swami Chakrapani said that Hindu actresses should take inspiration from the 18-year-old.Many feared that her social media accounts were hacked. However she confirmed on 2nd July that her accounts were handled by her and she is going to quit acting.
