Customers Can Enter Hotel Kitchens in Gujarat

For the first time, the Gujarat Government announced that customers will now be allowed to enter and inspect the hygiene levels of restaurants.

The Gujarat government on Thursday 7th November issued a notification asking restaurants and hotels to remove “no entry” signs outside the kitchens and allow customers to inspect the level of hygiene. The decision was made by HG Koshia, Commissioner,mFood and Drug Control Administration (FDCA). The FDCA also asked restaurant and hotel owners to set up a transparent glass on kitchen doors so that customers could take a look from outside.

They said that they want to empower consumers with this rule. Customers are very happy with this rule as they will know how the food is being prepared and they will know how hygienic it will be. A letter has been sent to all the hotels notifying them about the new law. Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani imposed a fine of ?1 lakh if hotels do not follow the rules.Gujarat is the first state to implement such a rule. Hopefully other states in India start this as well.
