BJP MLA Caught Watching Porn During Assembly

A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Tripura has been caught on camera watching a pornographic video on his phone during the assembly session.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Jadav Lal Debnath from Tripura has been caught on camera watching a pornographic video on his phone during the assembly session. The video of the MLA was taken by someone sitting behind him. It shows the MLA scrolling through a feed of video clips, and stopping at a point to watch a clip that appears to be pornographic. When asked, the MLA said that the video started playing on its own after he received multiple calls on his phone. He said, “I am aware that the use of mobile phones is prohibited in the Assembly. I was getting repeated calls.  I picked up a call and then the videos started playing on my phone. And you know it takes time to shut it off. I turned them off soon after. He also said he would "accept whatever decision the Chief Minister and the party president take. I did not play the video deliberately.”

Multiple opposition party leaders have asked the speaker to take strict action against Nath for example, barring him from contesting elections for next six years or so. The speaker of the assembly said, “All kinds of things go viral on social media. Without finding out the facts, I cannot act on it. I haven’t received any written complaint. If someone makes an official complaint, I will investigate the matter carefully and follow all the regulations of the assembly.”

This is not the first time this is happening. In 2012, three BJP ministers in Karnataka were forced to resign after they were caught watching porn in the assembly. In Gujarat too, two BJP MLAs were accused of watching porn inside the assembly in 2012. However, the accused denied the allegations, and the party too defended them.
