Actor Randeep Hooda got married to long term girlfriend Lin Laishram in a traditional Meitei Manipuri  wedding on 29th November 2023. The wedding took place at Chumthang Shannapung resort in the capital city Imphal of Manipur. The wedding was a private affair with only the immediate family & close friends of the couple present. Both the bride & groom were dressed in traditional Manipuri attire. Randeep was wearing a white cotton dhoti, a kurta, and the traditional Manipuri turban called ‘Kokyet.’ Randeep also chose to wear a white shawl during the ceremony. Lin was looking beautiful in Potloi or Polloi which is the traditional wedding dress for Manipuri women. A Potloi is a cylindrical skirt made of thick cloth and bamboo. It is decorated with satin, velvet, gems and glitter. A day before the wedding, Randeep and Lin seeked blessings at the local Ipudhou Marjing Khubamlen temple and Shri Shri Govindajee temple. The couple also visited the relief camps setup for the victims of violent ethnic clashes between the Kuki and Meitei tribes in Manipur as Lin belongs to the Meitei tribe of Manipur. The wedding was announced by the couple together on Instagram on 25th November 2023. Having never ever witnessed a traditional Meitei wedding, Randeep expressed his excitement & nervousness. During an interview before the wedding, he said “I am looking forward to the ceremony and traditions. I want to experience my life partner's culture. That's why I am here.I hope I don't make any mistakes and hope that all goes well.” The pictures & videos from the couple's wedding are going viral on social media. People are congratulating the couple and at the same time are getting awed by the beautiful rituals of the traditional Meitei wedding. One of the videos shows Lin putting a garland around Randeep’s neck. According to the Manipuri traditions, the garland for both the groom & the bride is woven by the bride herself using only Jasmine flowers which are called ‘Kundo’ in local language. Interestingly, in Manipuri weddings, only the bride takes seven rounds (pheras) that too around the groom. Another video shows Lin's mother performing her part of the ritual &  blessing the couple. The wedding will be followed by a grand reception in Mumbai for the newlyweds' industry friends on 2nd December 2023.
