40,000 Vaccinated People Infected with COVID in Kerala
More than 40,000 cases of breakthrough infection - where the patient contracted the virus after vaccination - have been detected in Kerala.
Generally when a new strain of a virus emerges, it can cause fresh waves of infections. For example, when new strains of coronavirus emerged like the Delta variant, it caused the second wave in India. Since the second wave was reduced, authorities have been alert about the possibility of emergence of new variants. Instances of infection after vaccination in India and abroad have been rare. Kerala has been reporting over 20,000 cases daily for the past few weeks. In shocking news, more than 40,000 cases of infection - where the patient contracted the virus after vaccination - have been detected in Kerala. The maximum number of infections on vaccinated persons has been seen in Pathanamthitta district. The Central government has asked Kerala to provide samples of the positive COVID patients to check whether there is any new strain of coronavirus that is resistant to the COVID vaccines.
