World's Most Powerful Camera

The world’s most powerful camera, with 3200 megapixels, called the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, will help scientists study space better and is expected to be fully ready by 2025.

Do you know how powerful the world’s most powerful camera is? It has 3200 megapixels! This camera is called the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. Earlier, it was known as the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST).

This camera is so powerful that its total capacity is equal to 260 iPhone-14 Pro cameras combined! It is so advanced that it can even capture a clear image of the smallest dust particle on the Moon, all the way from Earth.

Scientists believe this camera will help us understand planets and objects, whether they are close to Earth or far away, much better.

However, the camera is not fully ready yet. Its completion was delayed because of Covid-19. It is expected to be fully functional by 2025.

The camera is being built in America’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Once ready, it will be placed on top of the Cerro Pachon mountain in Chile.

The peak of this mountain is considered the best spot on Earth to observe space. The air there is dry and remains very still (stable), making it easier to study the universe.

This amazing camera will soon help scientists explore space like never before!
