Sourav Ganguly Suffers Heart Attack & Undergoes Angioplasty

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly hospitalised after suffering a heart attack and has undergone an angioplasty surgery.

On saturday 2nd January 2021 Former Cricketer and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was running on the treadmill in the gym at his home. He then felt dizzy and experienced chest pain.  He was immediately rushed to Woodland Hospital in Kolkata. He had experienced similar pain on friday 1st january as well. Ganguly’s wife Dona Ganguly and brother Snehasis Ganguly were at the hospital with him. Kolkata Sports Minister Laxmiratan Shukla also rushed to the hospital. Senior officials of the Bengal Cricket Association also came. Doctors said that Ganguly had suffered a heart attack because 3 of his arteries were blocked which reduced blood flow to his heart leading to a  heart attack. Dr Saroj Mondal and her team of doctors performed a surgery on Ganguly. They have inserted a stent in one of the arteries that was blocked. Doctors have said that they may insert more stents depending on his condition. 

Dr Mondal has said that he will be under strict observation for the next few days. When news about Ganguly’s heart attack came out, many wished him to get well soon on social media. Politicians, cricketers, etc tweeted as well. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Woodlands Hospital on Saturday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Sunday morning, enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. He also spoke to Saurav's wife Dona Ganguly.
