What is Open & Close During Lockdown?

PM Modi announced a 21-day lockdown all over India. This has created a lot of panic and confusion over which organisation will remain closed and which will remain open.

The Home Ministry released a list of organisations and services that will be open in the states. Let me tell you about them.

Exempted for Central Government:

Defence, LPG, Petrol pumps & CNG,Disaster Management, Power Generation & Transmission and post offices will be open.

Exempted in States:

Police, fire and emergency services, disaster management, and prisons, District administration and Treasury, Electricity, water, sanitation, Municipal bodies will be open. But only essential staff that are required to work will be told to come.

Hospitals, chemists and medical equipment shops will remain open.

Laboratories, clinics. nursing homes, ambulance etc will continue to remain functional. The transportation for all medical personnel such as nurses, para-medical staff, and other hospital support services be permitted.

Shops such as ration shops, normal grocery stores, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, meat and fish will be open.

Authorities encourage home delivery to minimize the movement of individuals outside their homes.

Banks, insurance offices and ATMs.

News Papers, TV channels, Telecommunications, Internet services, broadcasting and cable services will be allowed to work.

Delivery of all essential goods including food, medicines, medical equipment through E-commerce.

Not Exempted in States :

Offices of the Government of India will remain shut.

Offices of the States & Union Territory Governments shall remain closed.

Commercial and private establishments shall be closed down and they have to work from home only.

Industrial Establishments will remain closed.

All transport services air, rail, roadways will remain suspended.

Hotels will remain suspended.

All educational, training, research, coaching institutions etc. shall remain closed.

All places of worship shall be closed to the public. No religious gatherings will be permitted, without any exception.

All social/ political/ sports, entertainment, academic, cultural, religious functions/ gatherings shall be banned.

In case of funerals, gathering of not more than twenty persons will be permitted.

We hope everyone remains home and safe. The next 21 days are very important. So please follow the rules of the government.
