Vijay Mallya to Be Brought Back to India

Liquor baron Vijay Mallya who was involved in the Rs 9,000 crore financial scam, is finally being extradited back to India.

Two years back the Indian government had requested the British High Commission to send Vijay Mallya back to India, to complete the investigation regarding the Rs 9,000 crore loan fraud.

After considering the matter for so long, on 4 February 2019 British Home Secretary Sajid Javid has ordered Vijay Mallya to return to India. Mallya has 14 days to ask the High Court [HC] for permission to file for an appeal to change Home secretary’s decision.

If the HC gives permission, they will listen to his appeal. If they do not, he will be sent back to the country in 28 days. Vijay Mallya has decided to start the the process for appeal.

Recently he offered to pay back his loans. He requested the Karnataka to give him permission to sell his assets to pay back his creditors.
