Ukraine President Zelenskyy Requests Modi For Help

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking additional humanitarian aid, including medicines and medical equipment.

You all know about the Russia Ukraine war and it is still going on. Since the war started, high ranking Ukraine officials have never visited India. Now for the first time, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova visited India. She is in India for a 4-day visit. Emine visited India and met Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi. When she met Lekhi, Emine handed gave her a letter which was written by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy had written the letter to PM Narendra Modi. In the letter Zelenskyy has requested PM Modi for humanitarian help. He requested Modi to send medicines and medical equipment Lekhi Tweeted saying, ‘Not a time for War- PM @narendramodi. Pleased to meet Ukrainian First Dy FM @EmineDzheppar. Exchanged views on global issues. Cultural ties & women empowerment also figured in the discussion. Ukraine was assured of enhanced humanitarian assistance.’ Dzhaparova said her country would also allow foreign medical students to take the Unified State Qualification Exam, relieving thousands of Indian students who fled Ukraine when the war began.

She also added that rebuilding infrastructure in Ukraine could be a huge opportunity for Indian companies. She wants Ukraine really wants India and Ukraine to be closer. The Indian ministry said, India has sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, including drugs and medical equipment. India also plans to supply school buses to Ukraine. When asked a year after the invasion, how do you look at relations between Ukraine and India? How can India play a greater role? She said, ‘I’m here, to bring our countries closer. I’m not in the position of lecturing on how India should do this or that. It’s your domestic issue and we respect your decisions, be it economy or military contracts or any other thing.
But why I am here is to actually speak about the reality in my country. When it comes to its ancient history of 1,500 years, Ukraine never attacked any other country. We never never wanted to expand our territory, never attacked our neighbours, or did any land grabbing. It’s not about Ukraine. It’s about the Russian way of dealing with their neighbours. Since India was ruled by the british for so many years, India knows what it means to fight for your own identity, your own independent future. British forced you to speak English and forced their culture on you. Same thing is happening with us. We are forced to speak Russia and we want to fight for our identity. This is why India and Ukraine is same. And we call India Vishwaguru, that’s something that also puts us on a common path because we promote the same values. We invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay a visit to Kyiv. We invite National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, to pay a visit to Kyiv.’
