UAE Leaders Walk Through Dubai Mall During War Tensions
During Iran’s attacks, UAE leaders visited Dubai Mall to show the situation was under control.
Since the war between the United States–Israel and Iran began, many Gulf countries have remained on high alert. Some of these countries, including the United Arab Emirates, host United States military facilities, making them possible targets during the conflict.
During the recent escalation, Iran launched missiles and drones toward the UAE. However, the UAE has one of the most advanced air-defence systems in the world. One of its key systems is the THAAD, a powerful missile defence technology designed to destroy threats in the sky before they reach the ground.
According to official reports, 137 ballistic missiles were detected and 132 of them were intercepted before reaching the ground. Out of 209 drones detected, 195 were successfully shot down by the defence system.
However, debris from some intercepted missiles fell in residential areas. This caused fires and damage to property. Three foreign nationals from Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh were killed in the incident, while 58 people were injured, including a few Indians.
Because of the attacks, the UAE temporarily restricted its airspace, which affected several flights across the region. But in the middle of this tense situation, something unusual happened.
On 2 March 2026 at around 9 pm, visitors at Dubai Mall were surprised to see two important leaders walking among them. They were UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.
Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum has been the Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008 and plays an important role in the country’s government decisions, including development, innovation and national security.
The two leaders were seen calmly walking through the mall, greeting people and speaking with families. They even stopped at a café and had a meal inside the mall.
Many visitors felt surprised and reassured after seeing their leaders moving freely among ordinary citizens during such tense times. Some shoppers recorded videos and took photos as the leaders walked past in a relaxed atmosphere.
At the same time, global news channels were reporting missile attacks, explosions and rising tensions in the region. Instead of giving a long press conference, the UAE leadership appeared to send a simple message that the situation was under control.
Videos of the moment were later shared by the Dubai government media office and quickly spread across social media. Millions of people watched the clips, and many praised the calm and confident message sent by the country’s leadership.
