Trump’s Dramatic U-Turn on Iran Ceasefire

The US–Israel–Iran conflict remains unresolved, with escalating tensions and global speculation driven by geopolitical pressure and strategic negotiations involving Pakistan and China.

There has been no clear winner in the US–Israel–Iran conflict. Many expected the US, led by Donald Trump, to dominate, but Iran responded strongly, increasing criticism against Trump for entering the war without proper preparation.

Tensions escalated when Iran blocked the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting global oil supply and putting pressure on the US globally. Trump reacted aggressively on social media, issuing strong threats and using harsh language, raising fears of a major escalation.

On 7 April, he even warned that an entire civilization in Iran could be destroyed, leading to speculation about the possible use of powerful weapons. However, he suddenly paused the attack.

This decision came after a request from Shehbaz Sharif, who urged a delay. Trump agreed to suspend action for two weeks after discussions involving Pakistan’s leadership.

However, controversy arose when Sharif’s post initially appeared as a “draft,” leading many to suspect the move was pre-planned and possibly influenced by the US.

Meanwhile, Iran proposed several ceasefire conditions, many of which the US has tentatively accepted, leading to the current 2-week pause.

Looking ahead, experts believe Trump may still take a strong step after this period, especially with his upcoming meeting with Xi Jinping, as Iran maintains close ties with China.
