Russia Hits Ukraine with Massive Drone and Missile Attack

Russia launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine on 6 June 2025, killing civilians and causing destruction, in response to Ukraine’s earlier Operation Spiderweb.

Recently, Ukraine carried out a bold drone strike called Operation Spiderweb, where they damaged several Russian military airfields. Now, Russia has replied with a massive attack, bringing destruction and fear across Ukraine.

On the night of 6th June 2025, Russia launched over 400 drones, 6 ballistic missiles, 38 cruise missiles, and one anti-radar missile. The attacks hit several cities including Kyiv, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Lutsk, and Lviv.

In Kyiv, drones damaged tall buildings, gas stations, metro lines, and even schools. Metro services were affected as tracks and wires were damaged. People rushed to underground shelters with their children during the blasts.

A very emotional tragedy happened in Pryluky, where a policewoman, her mother, and her baby son were killed by a drone while they were at home. Her father, the fire department chief, was out helping others during the strike.

Ukraine’s Operation Spiderweb on 1st June had damaged 41 Russian aircraft and caused losses of around $7 billion. Ukraine claimed it hit 34% of Russia’s strategic bomber fleet. This made President Putin angry, and he had warned of a reply—which has now happened.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said the world is not doing enough to stop these attacks. He asked other countries to help stop the war and bring peace. He said talks and pressure are needed to protect civilians and end the violence.

Russia has increased the production of cheap drones and powerful missiles. Their plan is to first send cheap drones to confuse Ukrainian defences, and then attack with strong missiles. Ukraine is using U.S. technology, but some support has recently been shifted to the Middle East.

In this latest attack, more than 10 people died, and over 80 were injured. From children to police officers, homes to hospitals, the suffering continues. Russia’s reply after Operation Spiderweb has shown no mercy.

This is not just war anymore. It is a humanitarian crisis.
