Phase 7 of Lok Sabha Election Polls

The seventh and last phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were held on 19th May 2019 and recorded a voter turnout of 66.3%.

The seventh and last phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were held on 19th May 2019. The voter turnout in 2014 was 66.3%. This year the number is 2% lower. The overall voter turnout was 64.2%.. Elections were held for 59 Lok Sabha seats across 7 states and 1 Union Territory. The EC said that the elections were largely peaceful except for a few incidents in West Bengal. The poll percentage was 49.92% in Bihar, 66.18% in Himachal Pradesh, 69.38% in Madhya Pradesh, 58.81% in Punjab, 54.37% in Uttar Pradesh, 73.5%, in West Bengal, 70.5% in Jharkhand and 63.57% in Chandigarh.

Shyam Saran Negi cast the first vote in the 1951 Lok Sabha Elections. He is now 102 years old. He cast his vote for the 32nd time in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district. The administration made special arrangements to bring him to the booth. Sabha and Farah are conjoined twins. They are joined at the head. They voted for the first time in the 2015 Lok Sabha elections. At that time, the EC had counted them as a single voter. This year however, they voted as individuals for the very first time.

The Election Commission had temporarily cancelled elections in Vellore as they received a “highly damaging” report on abuse of money power. They haven’t announced dates for the Lok Sabha elections in Vellore. More than 90 crore citizens have registered to vote in Vellore. The final votes will be calculated and announced on 23rd May 2019.
