A French woman named Mary Lori Heral, is a businesswoman from - Paris who came to India about six years ago. Rakesh is a native of Begusarai, Bihar, but was staying and working in Delhi. He was a tourist guide who helped Mary visit different places. Mary fell in love with Rakesh. After she went back to Paris, they kept in touch. During this time, they also confessed their love for each other over the phone. After three years of knowing each other and continuing with a long-distance relationship, Mary asked Rakesh to move to Paris and start a textile business with her.

After they started working together, they got closer to each other, their love became much stronger and they decided to get married.  Rakesh's father Ramchandra Sha said that Mary was so impressed by Indian culture and traditions that she decided to come to Bihar's Begusarai and get married. After seeking both the families consent, Mary and Rakesh tied the knot on 21st November as per Hindu rituals. All Indian wedding rituals, from haldi to mehendi, were held. The arrangements and decisions for the wedding were made by both the families. The wedding took place in the presence of a huge crowd of villagers, who had travelled from nearby villages to witness the inter-racial wedding. Mary wanted to get married in a small town like Begusarai because she loved Bihari practices and traditions. Mary's family even travelled all the way to Bihar from Paris for the marriage. Both the families also danced to Hindi and Bhojpuri songs after the wedding ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by foreign guests who loved the Hindu traditions and culture. The newly married couple will stay in India for a week and then return to Paris.
