Mumbai Pilot Crosses the Atlantic Ocean in Light Aircraft

Pilot from Mumbai to fly across the world but becomes first woman to cross the Atlantic ocean in LSA

Aarohi Pandit, a 23 year old pilot from Mumbai in the suburb of Borivali is the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a Light Sports Aircraft (LSA). The plane weighs only 400kg or nearly the same as a Royal Enfield Motorcycle and she has named the aircraft “Mahi”. She went through a 7 month training schedule in countries like Greenland, Siberia, Italy and India. Flying over mountains, oceans and extreme weather conditions.

She became the first civilian to land in an LSA in Pakistan since 1947. From Pakistan she flew to Wick, Scotland in the United Kingdom. She has stopover in Greenland and Iceland. She then landed in Iqaluit Airport in Canada, after a 3,000 km flight. When she landed in Canada the Indian Ambassador to Canada was there to meet with her and she proudly stood for a picture with the Indian Flag.

Her next stop will be Russia, as she makes her way back home, she hopes to be back in India after flying across the world by July 30th
