Man Builds Taj Mahal Replica For Wife

A lovestruck and historically minded Indian husband has emulated the world's most famous display of marital devotion by building for his wife a replica of the Taj Mahal.

Whenever anyone comes to India, they wish to see the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. But do you know who built the Taj Mahal? Taj Mahal was built by  Emperor Shah Jahan for the love of his wife Mumtaz Ma?al. It is the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. It took about 22 years and 20,000 workers to construct the complex. Whenever we see the Taj Mahal, we remember that it was built by a husband who loved his wife immensely. Recently a man built a replica of the Taj Mahal for his wife.

Anand Prakash Chouksey is from Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. He was fascinated by the Taj Mahal.

Anand said that Shah Jahan had at first wanted to build the Taj Mahal for her on the banks of the river Tapti and burhanpur is close to it but the soil that time was not suitable to build the Taj here that's how it was decided to be built in Agra. He kept thinking why Taj Mahal was not built in Burhanpur, as Mumtaz Mahal had died there. Anand said that one day his wife asked him to build a meditation room for her. She had told him that a dome creates a different environment and there is a lot of positive energy. That is when he thought of building the replica of the Taj Mahal.

The replica is not as big as the original monument. It is a 4-bedroom plush house. The dome is 29 feet high.

It took Anand 3 years to build the house and it cost Rs 1 crore 50 lakh to build. He used the same marble from Rajasthan to build the house that was used to build the Taj Mahal. According to the engineer, they had to face many challenges through the process. The engineer studied the Taj Mahal closely before the construction. For the carving inside the house, he took the help of artisans from Indore and West Bengal. The furniture placed in the house is prepared by artisans from Mumbai. Two bedrooms of the house are on the ground floor and the other two are on the upper floor. The house has a hall, a meditation room, a kitchen and a library. Anand plans to mount an Indian flag on top of the main dome and add symbols from India's most popular religions to the four minarets surrounding his house. He said, "We want to send a message of peace and religious harmony. There is a lot of hate around. Love solves all problems in life and Taj Mahal is a symbol of that."
