A video is going viral on social media. The video shows a group of shepherds arguing with China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) troops in Eastern Ladakh near the Line of Actual Control (LAC).The LAC is a demarcation line that separates Indian and Chinese territories and passes through Ladakh. Coming back to the viral video. The video is winning hearts all over India. It has been widely shared & has received many positive & patriotic comments. Have you seen that viral video? Not yet? Don’t worry I will show it to you! According to the video, a group of shepherds in Ladakh bravely stood up to Chinese soldiers when they tried to stop the locals from grazing sheep near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at India-China border on 30th January 2024. At least 3 Chinese armored vehicles & several unarmed soldiers were on the spot. The vehicle was blaring the alarm to signal the shepherds to leave. But the shepherds denied. They questioned the PLA and argued that they were in fact on Indian territory. This is the first time in 3 years that they have asserted their grazing rights in the areas near the LAC and forced PLA soldiers to retreat. The shepherds had stopped grazing animals in this area since the 2020’s India-China Galwan clash. In the past 3 years, nomads (banjare) in eastern Ladakh hadn’t grazed their animals in several areas near the LAC. The video was shared by Chushul (a Ladakh village) councilor Mr. Konchok Stanzin. He called the shepherds’ standing up to the Chinese army "heartening to see" & said he salutes the nomads and their bravery, "who always stand to protect our land and stand as the second guardian force of the nation." Thankfully, no violence took place this time and the issue was resolved in a peaceful manner. Recently, a video showing Indian and Chinese troops chanting 'Jai Shree Ram' at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to celebrate the Ram Mandir ‘pran prathista’ had also gone viral on 22nd January 2024 and received a large number of positive comments.
