Kidnapped in 1993, UP Man Finally Returns Home After 30 Years
Bhim Singh, kidnapped at age seven, was reunited with his family after 30 years, thanks to a chance encounter with a businessman who rescued him from captivity.
In a story that feels like it’s straight out of a Bollywood movie, Bhim Singh, a man who was kidnapped at the age of seven, has been reunited with his family after 30 long years. This emotional reunion took place on November 23, 2024, when a man arrived at the Khoda police station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, claiming to be Bhim.
Bhim Singh, a young boy from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, was kidnapped on the afternoon of September 8, 1993, while returning home from school with his sister. Three kidnappers grabbed him from an auto-rickshaw and vanished with him. His family soon received a ransom demand of ?7.5 lakh, but after that, there was no further contact. Despite filing a police complaint, the case remained unsolved, and Bhim’s family was left in agony, wondering what had happened to him.
As the years passed, Bhim’s family moved on, though they never stopped hoping for his return. His father, Tularam, continued living in Ghaziabad, refusing to leave in case his son ever came looking for him. He even opened a flour mill to support the family, something he believed Bhim would have done had he not been taken away.
On November 23, 2024, a man in ragged clothes and barefoot walked into the Khoda police station and claimed he was Bhim Singh. He showed a letter, but he couldn’t remember his parents’ names or his address. The police were shocked when they checked their old records and found that the man’s details matched those of Bhim Singh, who had been kidnapped three decades ago.
The police took care of the man, providing him with food, water, and clothes. Since they didn’t have any functioning contact details for Bhim’s family, they published his information in the media and on social media. Soon, Bhim’s uncle reached out, and his family came to confirm the man’s identity.
The family recognized Bhim by the nickname "Raju" tattooed on his left arm, which they had given him, and by a mole on his right leg. After 30 years, they had finally found their lost son and brother.
When Bhim shared his story, it was even more heartbreaking. He explained how, after being kidnapped, he was heavily sedated. When he regained consciousness, he found himself tied to a tree at an animal farm in a remote village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. He was forced to do hard labor and looked after animals for long hours. He was beaten regularly and given just one roti each evening.
For 30 years, Bhim was kept in captivity, unable to escape. But in November 2024, a Delhi businessman who had gone to the farm to buy animals noticed Bhim’s poor condition. He rescued him, gave him a letter with details of his life before the kidnapping, and sent him on a truck to Delhi.
Once in Delhi, Bhim tried to find his family, but the city had changed so much in 30 years that he couldn’t remember where he had lived or even his parents' names. After visiting several police stations without success, he finally reached the Khoda police station.
Bhim, now reunited with his family, spoke emotionally at the Lord Hanuman temple near the police station. He thanked Lord Hanuman for his prayers being answered and for finally bringing him home. He shared that the younger daughter of the man who held him captive had told him to worship Lord Hanuman and encouraged him to escape and find his family.
The Ghaziabad police are now completing the necessary legal formalities and investigating the case further, after 30 years.
This incredible story of fate, struggle, and reunion has touched the hearts of many and has gone viral on social media. Bhim’s return is a reminder that sometimes, even after years of hardship, destiny has a way of bringing families back together.
