ISRO launches Brazil's Amazonia-1 Satellite

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Brazil’s satellite Amazonia-1 along with 18 co-passenger satellites in an Indian rocket.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Brazil’s satellite Amazonia-1 along with 18 co-passenger satellites in an Indian rocket. Amazonia-1, which weighs 637 kilograms, is the optical earth observation satellite of Brazil's National Institute for Space Research (INPE). This is the first Brazilian satellite to be launched by India. It was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Andhra Pradesh. This is ISRO's first mission of 2021. A photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been engraved on the top panel of the spacecraft to show gratitude for his Aatmanirbhar initiative. 

A 'Bhagavad Gita' was also sent in an SD card. With the success of this mission, India has put 342 foreign satellites of 34 countries in Orbit, on a commercial basis. ISRO Chief K Sivan said, “ ISRO has 14 missions lined up for the year 2021.”
