Israeli Airstrikes Attack Lebanon: 2 Killed, 19 Injured
Israel carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon on 21st January, saying it targeted Hezbollah-linked sites. The attacks killed civilians and raised concerns about violations.
On 21st January, Israel carried out airstrikes on parts of southern Lebanon. Israel said the strikes were aimed at military targets linked to Hezbollah, which it considers a terrorist group. However, the attacks caused civilian deaths and injuries.
Israel has previously carried out deadly airstrikes against Lebanon in 2024. After that, a ceasefire had been in place. Despite this, the recent strikes have raised concerns once again.
According to reports, Israeli warplanes launched a wave of attacks on several towns in southern Lebanon. The strikes hit areas including Qanarit and Kfour. These locations were said to have Hezbollah-linked sites.
At least two people were killed and around nineteen others were injured in these attacks. Among the injured were journalists who suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders rushed to the affected areas and provided medical help to the wounded.
In another separate strike in the Zahrani area, one civilian was killed. This added to the growing concern about civilian safety during the attacks.
Israel stated that it bombed Hezbollah infrastructure and places where militants were believed to be present. Israel claimed that Hezbollah had shown unusual military activity and was planning cross-border attacks. According to Israel, the locations targeted were near the border and believed to store rockets, weapons, or fighters.
Israel also said it had issued evacuation warnings to some Lebanese villages before the strikes and asked civilians to move away.
However, Lebanon responded by saying that Israel often violates ceasefire agreements.
ISH News has released a detailed video explaining who Hezbollah is and why Israel is attacking Lebanon.
